G290 was selected for use in the Hoover program as one of the top calves of the 2008 calf crop. He blends the calving ease of Friction with the style and muscle of Famous. Big rumped and big topped, he is one of the most impressive individuals in the Hoover herd bull line-up. G290's first calves got off to a good start and sure appear to be low birth weight. Heifers will sell bred to G290 in our 2012 production sale.
G290 had flawless performance data: BW 79 lbs., WW 782 lbs., WR 121, YW 1342 lbs., YR 113, IMF 5.51, ratio 115, RE 14.0, ratio 104, scrotal at 21 months: 45 cm.
G290 exemplifies 9 generations of the highly productive "Blackcap Empress Ellston" cow family at Hoover Angus. His dam and grandam have both achieved elite Pathfinder status. Dam C344 is a perfect uddered Famous daughter that records 6-96 BWR, 6-107 WR, 4-106 YR, 4-104 IMF, and 4-102 RE with a 352 day calving interval.
Fourth generation dam C57 has left a legacy at Hoover Angus. 33 daughter descendants have worked in Ellston, Iowa. This includes "Great Ones" like T15, the prolific Pathfinder with 10-110 WR that grossed $51,750 on her 8 natural sons. This cow family has produced nearly $200,000 worth of registered progeny sold through our annual production sales. Seven of C57's descendants have achieved Pathfinder status; four have served as donors.
