Carbon Copy was the Lot 1 bull in our 2011 auction, selling 2/3 semen interest to Young Angus Farm, Blythedale, MO. Natural possession has been retained by Hoover Angus Farm, and his first calves will arrive in February 2012.
Carbon Copy is named in honor of the parallels between himself and sire CC&7. Carbon Copy is the #1 weaning weight bull of the calf crop, is a mile long, and is the biggest framed CC&7 son to date, offering thickness that is very rare in such a big bull. Also identical are the dispositions of the two bulls. Carbon Copy's pedigree predicts he will add lean muscle growth and sire calves that are unparalleled in the feedlot.
Pathfinder dam Z99 is regarded as one of the best cows to ever be in production at Hoover Angus. Carbon Copy is her third #1 WW bull calf, a feat no other cow has knowingly accomplished in the history of the herd. In addition, three of Z99's daughters were the #3 or #4 high weaning weight heifers of their respective crops. Z99 is the 3rd high indexing cow of the herd, and 4th top ribeye ratio cow!
Three times Z99 has had twins, and the AAA does not include twins' ratios in her wean ratios above. Her first set of twins yielded two nice Gridiron heifers. One was the long-standing top-selling female at $12,000 in our 2006 auction selling to Mark & Trisha Haines. She was the #4 WW heifer of her crop and scanned a 16.3" ribeye.
Z99's next son was the $9500 top selling bull in our 2007 auction. He is one of five Gridiron sons in the Hawley Gen X Angus herd bull battery. Z99's feature bull in our 2009 auction sold to repeat customer Glen Hanson for $5000. He not only had top growth, he scanned a 4.75 IMF, ratio 112, with a 16.6" ribeye, ratio 122.
Z99's own ribeye scan of 14.0" coupled with her high ribeye ratios on her progeny have earned her a Ribeye EPD of +.90, way above the top 1% of current dams.
Pathfinder grandam V47 has also had her day in the sun. Two of her bull calves and one of her heifer calves were the 2nd high adjusted weaning weight bull or heifer calf of their respective crop. One of them was a feature in our 2009 auction, selling to repeat customer Ed Claycomb for $4000. This bull was the 2nd high WW bull, second only to Z99's son that year. V47 also has powerful ribeye genetics. With 8-109 ribeye ratio, she serves as the herd's 11th top ribeye ratio cow. She boasts a top 1% Ribeye EPD!
Combine V47's top ribeye with her low fat ratios, and she has the 49th top $YG Value among the nation's 245,439 Angus dams (spring 2011 NCE)! She is one of 10 Hoover cows on the list of the top 150 current dams of the breed for the $YG Value! One son and one descendant of V47 rank on the list of the top 150 non-parent bulls of the breed for $YG. V47 showcases high red meat yield at its finest – which will help you earn Yield Grade premiums if you feed out progeny and sell them on a grid.
