Gridiron progeny stand out for their superior conformation and structural soundness. Cattlemen appreciate the natural thickness and muscle Gridiron puts in his progeny. His daughters are feminine and have become top producing cows at Hoover Angus.
Gridiron now records over 1200 progeny in nearly 200 herds. He is a dominant force for WW, YW, and Ribeye EPDs. Combine this with his high $Weaned Calf Value, and he is a logical choice for ranchers who sell their calves by the pound and retain replacement females. His WW EPD, YW EPD, Ribeye EPD, and $W Index all rank in the top 1-5% of current Angus sires.
In the spring 2008 calf crop, the top two adjusted weaning weight bull calves were sired by Gridiron. In the spring 2006 crop, 7 of the top 15 adjusted weaning weight bull calves were sired by Gridiron, including the #1 bull at 878 lbs. and the #2 bull at 860 lbs. 4 of the top 15 adjusted weaning weight heifer calves were sired by Gridiron in the spring 2006 crop. Performance doesn’t get much better than this!
The top selling bull at $13,000 and top selling female at $12,000 ever to leave Hoover Angus were sired by Gridiron. In our 2006 production sale, 24 Gridiron sons averaged $4635. They were the highest averaging sire group by nearly $1000.
Gridiron’s dam is a $30,000 Whitestone Foundation donor and Gridiron’s sire is the $23,000 GAR Grid Maker leased to Select Sires.
