The magical combination of CC&7 mated to a Gridiron daughter has once again risen to the top. Hoover Headliner was the $30,000 top-selling bull in our February 1, 2011 auction selling to Select Sires, Plain City, OH. He was the thickest bull of the sale and put everything together in a very complete package. He shares the same docility as his sire, CC&7. He was also stamped with a big ribeye, being the #1 ribeye scan bull of the auction. Headliner has a Ribeye EPD above the top 1% of the breed.
Headliner was the 12th top weaning weight bull calf of the crop and offers superior muscle in a moderate framed package.
Headliner is the third CC&7 son by C109, and all three of these bulls have been at the top of their crop. First was G9, the bull we retained for natural service and re-named Hoover G Force. G Force was the 5th top weaning weight and #1 adjusted yearling weight bull of his crop. G Force now comes to the top of the breed for Ribeye EPD, Docility EPD, and $YG Value. Next in line was H18, the lot 1 bull from our 2010 sale purchased by Shannon Yokley.
A full sister to Headliner will sell as a feature heifer calf in our February 7, 2012 production sale - see her photo below.
C109 has achieved Pathfinder status with 5-99 BWR, 5-112 WR, 5-109 YR, 5-106 IMF ratio, 5-112 Ribeye ratio and a 359 day calving interval. C109 scanned a 13.4" ribeye to earn her a Ribeye EPD way above the top 1% of the breed. C109 is a moderate-framed, perfect-uddered cow. C109 is the 12th generation Hoover bred-and-owned Blackcap Empress Ellston cow to survive strict culling in Ellston, Iowa. Now in our donor program, four C109 sons and daughters will be weaned in the fall of 2011. C109's maternal excellence is best portrayed by her high $W. C109 ranks in the top 200 cows of the breed among 304,634 Angus dams for the $W index!
Great grandam J350 made the Pathfinder report at 14 years of age.
Sire CC&7 has been a significant part of the Hoover breeding program since his purchase in November of 2006. He has quickly become one of the most widely used bulls of the breed, reigning as the #1 Docility EPD bull in the breed since the debut of Docility EPDs.
A total of 132 CC&7 sons have been sold through Hoover Angus sales averaging $6284. Most notable was the $47,500 Hoover Dam, a 3/4 brother to Headliner.
Hoover Headliner's first calves will be born in January of 2011. After initially freezing semen, Headliner had an injury to one testicle, which was later removed. Headliner is recovering at Select Sires, and semen is currently not available.
