Statesman sons were the most sought-after bulls during our private treaty sales this past summer. This is because he combines low birth weight, high weaning weight growth, and marbling all in one package. Progeny in 7 herds have an average 97 BWR, 101 WR, 101 YR, 105 IMF ratio and 99 Ribeye ratio (against some very high ribeye genetics in the Hoover herd). Even more encouraging is the strengths of his daughters with an average 104 WR on their progeny! Statesman exemplifies the traits combined in the $Weaned Calf Value Index ($W) placing him well above the top 1% of the Angus breed. In fact, Statesman ranks in the top 50 sires in the entire Angus breed for this economically important index!

Statesman and his progeny are very easy fleshing. He is moderate framed, but has meat and muscle to make him eye appealing. He is a structurally sound bull with a large scrotal.

Statesman’s dam scanned a 139 IMF ratio and 113 Ribeye ratio. His grandma has 19 at 102 IMF and 19 at 103 Ribeye ratio.

In the fall 2005 calf crop, Statesman sired the top 4 weaning weight heifer calves all breaking the 700 lb. mark at 816 lbs., 791 lbs., 774 lbs., and 719 lbs.
