2011 Hoover Angus Farm Production Sale

Hoover Angus Farm's 21st Annual, 83rd Anniversary Sale was held Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at the Creston Livestock Auction in Creston, IA. Despite blizzard conditions, 181 live lots grossed $767,850 to average $4242.

102 bulls averaged $5003. Eight two year-old bulls averaged $4438, 19 fall bulls averaged $5679, and 75 yearling bulls averaged $4892. The favorites of the day were the 36 SydGen CC&7 sons averaging $6835. A semen interest in herd sire Hoover Carbon Copy sold for $4500, and an embryo package sold for $3200.

56 spring bred heifers averaged $3279, 13 fall bred heifers averaged $2627, and 10 open heifers averaged $3980.

Top bull: Lot 49, Hoover Headliner J32 (formerly named Hoover CC&7 J32), sold 2/3 interest for $30,000 to Select Sires, Plain City, OH. He is a 1-30-10 son of SydGen CC&7.

Second top bull: Lot 22, Hoover CC&7 J72, sold 2/3 interest for $17,000 to Paul's Livestock, Edwall, WA. He is a 2-12-10 son of SydGen CC&7.

Third top bull: Lot 36, Hoover CC&7 J24, sold 2/3 interest for $14,000 to Paul's Livestock, Edwall, WA. He is a 1-14-10 son of SydGen CC&7.

Fourth top bulls: Lot 66, Hoover CC&7 J290, sold 2/3 interest for $13,000 to Justin Swindler, Smithville, MO. He is a 3-14-10 son of SydGen CC&7 and full brother to Hoover Dam. Lot 67, Hoover Friction J154, sold 2/3 interest for $13,000 to Glen Hanson, Greenfield, IA. He is a 2-21- 10 son of TC Friction 5130.

Top bred female: Lot 106, Lady Ida of Ellston H6, sold to KDS Angus, Lenox, IA for $33,500. She is a 1-13-09 daughter of SydGen CC&7 bred to Connealy Reward.

Second top bred female: Lot 129, Elbamere Queen Ellston H16, sold to Tim Brodie, Carthage, IL for $6500. She is a 1-20-09 daughter of SydGen CC&7 bred to Basin Excitement.

Top open heifer: Lot 187, Miss Blackcap Ellston J2, sold to KDS Angus, Lenox, IA for $20,000. She is a 1-8-10 daughter of SydGen CC&7.

Volume female buyer: KDS Angus, Lenox, IA. Volume bull buyers: Les Craighton, Hampton, IA and Wes Swieter, Ackley, IA.
